What is the process like?

The process depends on what you’re booking, but it always starts with a conversation. We’ll discuss what you’re looking for, and I’ll provide a quote when applicable. Once you’re ready to move forward, I’ll send your contract and invoice. A non-refundable retainer is required to secure your booking, with the remaining balance due before shooting begins. What are The Seasonal Edits?

The Seasonal Edits are 35-minute sessions built around seasons, themes, or activities. Each Edit has its own creative direction and is offered for a limited time. Can I customize a package?

Packages are a starting point, not a limitation, and can be customized to your needs.

Can you recommend photography locations?

Whether you have a dream location in mind or need help finding the right one, I’m happy to explore locations throughout Westchester and beyond with you. Some locations require permits, insurance documentation, or photography fees, and I’ll handle those details from start to finish.

Many clients choose home for the perfect mix of comfort, flexibility, and convenience. It keeps all the little things simple: an outfit change, a bathroom break, or a moment to refresh and regroup. No permits, no extra fees. Less to plan, more to enjoy. After all, there’s no place like home.

Can I have my session at home?

Absolutely. And best of all, there are no location permits or fees to worry about.

What should I wear?

The best outfit is one that makes you feel confident and like yourself. Neutral tones, textures, and timeless pieces photograph beautifully, but your personality always comes first. Whether your style is classic, colorful, bold, or completely unique, I want your photos to reflect who you are. If you'd like guidance, I'm happy to help with outfit ideas and styling so you feel comfortable and camera-ready.

What time of day is best for photos?

For outdoor sessions, the best light is usually during golden hour—the hour or so after sunrise or before sunset. The light is softer and warmer, which can create that beautiful, natural look you see in so many outdoor portraits.

That said, there’s no one perfect time for every session. The best time depends on the season, location, weather, and what we’re photographing. Families with young children, pets, events, and lifestyle sessions may work better at other times of day.

When we plan your session, I’ll help choose a time that makes sense for you, your location, and the kind of photographs we’re creating.

How long does a session last?

Sessions range from 35 to 90 minutes. Events have 2- or 4-hour minimums. Custom options are available.

How far in advance should I book?

I recommend booking as early as possible, especially for weekends, seasonal sessions, and milestone dates. Seasonal sessions are offered during specific windows and may have limited availability, so early booking is the best way to secure your preferred date and time.

Last-minute inquiries are always welcome when availability allows.

What is your cancellation and rescheduling policy?

Life happens! If you need to reschedule, please reach out as soon as possible. One reschedule is permitted, subject to availability. Additional rescheduling requests will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

If you cancel your session, any retainer or other payment made toward the session is non-refundable. Full cancellation and rescheduling terms are outlined in your booking agreement.

What happens if the weather doesn't cooperate?

Weather happens, especially here in the Northeast. I’ll keep an eye on the forecast and stay in touch as your session approaches. If conditions make it unsafe or impractical to hold the session as planned, we’ll work together to find another available date at no additional charge.

When is payment due?

A non-refundable retainer is required to secure your session or event date, with the remaining balance due before shooting begins. Seasonal Edits require full payment at the time of booking. Creative Projects have payment terms established based on the project. Payment can be made by Zelle, cash, bank transfer, or check.

Are you insured?

Two Cardinals Photography is fully insured. I carry the documentation required for professional photography at locations that require it.

Many parks, venues, and other public or private properties have specific requirements for professional photography. If a permit, certificate of insurance, location fee, or other authorization is required, it must be obtained before the session. I take those requirements seriously and will never photograph at a location without the proper permissions in place.

If you have a location in mind, I’ll research the requirements, communicate with the appropriate parties, and handle the necessary documentation so everything is in order before we arrive.

Please note that clients are responsible for any damage to property or belongings caused by themselves or members of their party during a session.

When will I receive my photos?

Most portrait galleries are delivered within 1–2 weeks. Events are delivered within 2–3 weeks. Creative Projects vary based on the scope and details of the project.

How will I receive my photos?

Once your images are ready, I’ll send you a private, password-protected online gallery to view and download your photos. From there, you can easily share your favorites and order professional-quality prints.

How many photos will I receive?

The number of edited images depends on the experience you choose. Experiences with a specified image count include that stated number of edited images. Experiences without a specified image count will receive a curated selection of the strongest images from the session.

Will my photos be edited by AI?

No. I personally select and edit every final image in your gallery, making decisions about color, lighting, exposure, and detail while keeping your photos natural and authentic. I don't upload client photographs to third-party AI platforms for automated editing.

AI-assisted culling and editing have become increasingly common in photography, and it isn't always obvious to clients when they're part of the process. Your photographs are personal, and I believe you should know who—or what—is processing them.

Can I print my own photos?

Your final gallery includes high-resolution digital images and a personal print release, giving you the freedom to print your photos wherever you’d like.

Will my photos be shared online?

I love sharing favorite images from my sessions on my website and social media, but your privacy comes first. If you’d prefer that your images not be shared publicly, simply let me know before your session.

What happens if I don't like being photographed?

Not everyone feels comfortable in front of a camera, and I understand that. I’ll take that into account from the start rather than expecting you to arrive knowing how to pose or immediately feel at ease. I’ll guide you through positioning, posing, and expression while paying attention to what feels natural for you.

You don't have to become comfortable with the camera. We just have to find a way to photograph you comfortably.
